National AIDS Memorial Grove
The rainy season is almost over, and I am getting back into the swing of things with my Hike of the Week posts. I am glad the drought is over, and am looking forward to a great hiking season! But for now, it is still hard to get out and, coupled with that, I am busy. The National AIDS Memorial Grove is in Golden Gate Park, a short walk from the science museum and a good hike for those who don’t have a lot of time to go out.
It is also useful that this walk is transit accessible, so you can still go there while pressed for time.

The Walk
This tranquil space is dedicated to the memory of people with HIV/AIDS. As such, there are park benches, contemplation spaces, and names everywhere.
Be sure to check out their website at AIDSMemorial.org, and there is a QR code there for a Cell phone tour.
This site is to memorialize the courage of those who fought an battled AIDS. There are heroic stories everywhere here.
The area is excellent for a short walk. Note the redwood stands, moss-covered rocks, and tree ferns. I was surprised by how big they could grow!
Walk around here for contemplation, meditation, and the beautiful scenes created in one of the best city parks in North America.
